Importantly, this will mean existing qualified Trainers and Assessors will not be required to complete any qualification upgrades. The VET Qualifications Register for Secondary Students 2023 is now available on the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) website at https://www.dtwd.wa.gov.au/training.../vet-schools.
The register details all vocational education and training qualifications available for WA secondary school students, industry advice for schools and RTOs on the suitability of qualifications students, and delivery requirements to meet industry standards. It aims to assist schools and RTOs to select qualifications that are more will help students to transition effectively to further training or employment. Click here to access the register. We are currently evaluating a proposal to vary an existing Class B Traineeship (TLI31216 Certificate III Driving Operations) to a Class A Heavy Vehicle Driving Apprenticeship (TLI31221 Certificate III in Driving Operations) through an Establishment and Variation of Apprenticeship (EVAC) process via the STB. As our initial consultations identified differing suitability needs for WA stakeholders, in particular for the Bus and Dangerous Goods sectors, further evaluation is required to ensure the proposed apprenticeship meets the needs of WA employers across all industries. As well as determining any potential impacts to training arrangements or business requirements. The annual LDSC RTO Forum is back for 2021 at Floreat Forum on Friday 3 December 2021 for a half day. LDSCs new CEO, Michael Taremba will provide an opening address regarding LDSCs future directions. Guest speakers will include presenters from the Training Accreditation Council (TAC), Australian Industry Standards (AIS) and the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) who will provide updates and guidance on their various areas.

The SkillsWest Careers and Employment Expo along with the WorldSkills Australia National Championships, was hosted at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 26th - 28th of August. The Rail and Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committees have submitted the Case for Endorsement and draft materials for the Transport and Logistics Training Package (Release 10.0) to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee for their consideration.
Destination Australia funds eligible tertiary or VET education providers to offer scholarships to domestic and international students to study and live-in regional Australia.
