Links to the booklets are below: Australian Industry Standards (AIS) recently released the 2022 Supply Chain Industry Outlook that identifies six megatrends impacting the supply chain. The Outlook focuses on the following industries in the supply chain that AIS supports: Transport and Logistics, Aviation, Maritime, and Rail.
The report is a snapshot of a continually evolving story that is intended to alert and inform a wide audience and enhance the industry’s capacity to act on workforce development initiatives. It also looks at the impact of COVID-19 while addressing the critical role that supply chains play in enabling a strong Australian economy. You can access the Industry Outlook here. We are currently evaluating a proposal to vary an existing Class B Traineeship (TLI31216 Certificate III Driving Operations) to a Class A Heavy Vehicle Driving Apprenticeship (TLI31221 Certificate III in Driving Operations) through an Establishment and Variation of Apprenticeship (EVAC) process via the STB. As our initial consultations identified differing suitability needs for WA stakeholders, in particular for the Bus and Dangerous Goods sectors, further evaluation is required to ensure the proposed apprenticeship meets the needs of WA employers across all industries. As well as determining any potential impacts to training arrangements or business requirements. Supported by the Federal Government, Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS) have launched the Roadshow; a mental health outreach program to support the health and wellbeing of the heavy vehicle industry and supply chain. The Roadshow will provide tailored resources and practical mental health advice to truck drivers, and warehouse and distribution centre staff at 18 industry events across the country in 2022. The team will encourage the use of the free Healthy Heads App and will distribute pocket-sized handbooks with practical mental health and wellbeing tips.
Click here to access the Learning Hub. The National Women in Transport initiative aims to improve the gender balance within the transport industry by bringing government and industry together. As well as the dedicated website and ‘speaker bureau’ profiling women leaders, over the next year the National Women in Transport program will also publish key transport workforce data and deliver a series of events to connect industry leaders.

Deakin University’s Centre for Supply Chain and Logistics and Wayfinder: Supply Chain Careers for Women has released a report exploring the issues impacting the supply chain workforce. This includes forecasting the future skills this workforce will require. The report found that a powerful mix of historical issues has caused restrictions for industry as demand for workers grows. There has been massive industry transformation occurring at an unprecedented rate, an explosion of new technologies and an increased focus on ethical and sustainable practices. Geopolitical factors which have also influenced the industry and contributed to skills shortages.
