The National Women in Transport initiative aims to improve the gender balance within the transport industry by bringing government and industry together. As well as the dedicated website and ‘speaker bureau’ profiling women leaders, over the next year the National Women in Transport program will also publish key transport workforce data and deliver a series of events to connect industry leaders.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) has launched the Prying Minds campaign, designed for people working in defence industry. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the threat foreign spies pose to Australia’s defence industry, and encourage people
to report potential acts of espionage or foreign interference. This campaign promotes ASIO’s NITRO (Notifiable Incidents, Threats or Reportable Observations) contact reporting portal. The State Government as launched a new telephone support line providing a single point of contact for Western Australians who are concerned about their own or another person's mental health issues and/or alcohol and other drug use. The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) has completed the discovery phase of its review of the Australian Core Skills Framework and the Digital Literacy Skills Framework. The next phase has now launched with an online survey and two online discussion forums. The survey is now open and will gather views on the two frameworks, as well as assessment tools based on the ACSF.

The Federal government has released a report outlining how it plans to grow Australia’s Defence Force (ADF) personnel by 30% by 2040, under the 2020 Force Structure Plan. Overall, Defence’s total permanent workforce will increase to over 101,000 by 2040 – an increase of 18,500 over baseline growth agreed in the Plan.

Australian Industry Standards have advised they are seeking validation feedback on the draft Training Package materials for the Rail Safety Management project, which has recently been updated. These draft materials address technical and behavioural capabilities for the management of rail safety. This includes prevention and risk management mitigation capabilities, quality incident management and incident investigation skills.
