In Western Australia this industry continues to play a vital role in servicing remote and offshore destinations in and around the State. The services offered by ground and flight operations impact on emergency services, agriculture, tourism, recreational sport and the resources sector.
Aviation - Flight Operations involves the preparation and movement of aircraft, crew, cargo, passengers and baggage through controlled airspace to a destination. Aviation - Ground Operations encompasses airport operations, aerodrome maintenance and management, ground handling and other affiliated aviation support services. In this instance, it excludes the mechanical and electrical engineering/servicing of aircraft. Aviation – Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) or Drones refer to unmanned, remotely piloted systems. These systems are widely deployed in many industry settings, including but not limited to: Aviation, Port Management, Construction, Mining and Resources and Defence. Licensing RequirementsThere are licensing and certification requirements for many roles within Aviation. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is responsible for issuing a range of licences, endoresements, permits and approvals for any aviation activities to occur, including RPAS/drone operations and ensures both businesses and individuals adhere to the Australian Civil Aviation Laws. Aviation Training PackageIndustry Skills Australia (ISA) is the national Jobs and Skills Council with responsibility for the Aviation Training Package.
